Tamanu oil is a traditional remedy originating from Polynesia and South East Asia. The oil is extracted from the nut kernel of the Tamanu tree. It has been widely used as a traditional topical aid for promoting the formation of new tissue and accelerating wound healing. As a folk medicine, it is applied to cuts, abrasions, burns, stings, sunburn, and dry skin. Xanthones contained in the oil also posses anti-inflammatory action.

Papaya provides nutrients important for wound healing. It is a rich source of vitamins, minerals and amino acids required for laying down new tissue. Papaya Renew™ may also assist to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. A Cochrane review of creams for the prevention of stretch marks in pregnancy found a cream containing gotu kola significantly reduced the incidence of developing stretch marks. The trial included 80 pregnant women and overall, 56% of the placebo group developed stretch marks compared with 34% in the active group. This may be attributed to gotu kolas ability to promote collagen synthesis and maintain skin elasticity. Papaya and tamanu oil also promote skin elasticity and may also assist in reducing stretch marks. Renew™ contains ingredients that moisturise and keep skin well hydrated. Jojoba and rosehip oils, and chamomile extracts have been included to soothe dry, cracked and irritated skin. PURE Papaya Ointment is rich in skin-friendly, nourishing jojoba oil – jojoba oil is a waxy solid when cold and liquefies when warm, so the ointment may become hard in cold temperatures and soft when in warm conditions. To keep the ointment in optimal condition, please keep it stored below 30 degrees celsius. If, however, it does get left in a hot environment, simply pop it in the fridge for an hour or so, and if your tube becomes hard in colder climates, just warn up the tube by gently rolling it between your hands.
